Welcome from our dietitians M eghan Sedivy, RD, LDN g If you’ve been through the bulk foods department at the Cincinnati, Ohio, Fresh Thyme Farmers Market on Montgomery Road, you’ve probably met Tom Allan. A native of Cincinnati, Tom has an infectious positive energy and enthusiasm for serving customers. “If you have any questions, just ask. We’re here to help you,” Tom says. “I’m happy to give samples so you can taste before you buy.” The most asked-for samples? Almonds and cashews. It’s Tom’s careful attention to personal service that resonates with customers. Known among coworkers as the “cook,” Tom often brings in his homemade lasagna, ravioli, fresh salsa, and more. He assists at store events and is always ready with a fun story to tell. Tom spent the majority of his career managing and owning several successful businesses. He is an avid football fan whose son played for famed Cincinnati Moeller High School Coach Gerry Faust and later as a tight end for Michigan State. Tom is a bourbon enthusiast with a collection of sipping bourbons. Tom shares, “I vowed years ago to learn one new thing every day. I always told myself I’ll look a new word up in the dictionary if I have to. But, I’ve never had to. There is always something new to learn!” “IT’S NICE TO OFFER SHOPPERS AN UNEXPECTED EXTRA, LIKE PACKAGING PRODUCTS WITH COLORED RIBBONS THAT TIE IN WITH SPORTING EVENTS OR HOLIDAYS.” —Tom Allan Bulk Specialist Fresh Thyme Farmers Market Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH Photo Credit: Jill Matthews EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: MEET TOM ALLAN freshthyme.com | May/June 2018 3 CV2-003 TOC_Ed Letter.indd 3 4/11/18 11:35 AM
